My family and I stayed at the Keelman on both Friday and Saturday, while we were house hunting in the local area, and needed somewhere dog and toddler friendly. We arrived around 6:30pm on Friday evening and were greeted by very friendly staff who showed us to our room. The room we stayed in at the Lodge was very basic (and a little bit dated) but very clean, lots of towels and everything we needed. Our only issue was that our radiators didn't work and it unfortunately happened on the weekend when the temperatures dropped. When we realised on the Friday night it was too late to tell any staff members but as soon as we told them on Saturday they did try to fix it straight away. Unfortunately, it was a maintenance issue that couldn't be fixed but we were given as many extra blankets and duvets as they possibly could and we slept very warmly the second night.

The room was clean and comfortable. Only issue was a very loose control on the shower which had to be in just the right position or it wouldn’t work. The staff were friendly and helpful and the bar had a good selection of drinks. It was also really nice to be able to walk down to the Tyne in about a minute. Definitely worth visiting.

The Keelman is a gem. It is a county style pub. I had a room is an anex which was quiet and comfortable. The staff were friendly, helpfully and welcoming. I had a meal which was reasonably priced and very satisfying. I tried the beer - of course and The Bishop is an excellent real ale. The pub is beside the Country park and the river, which made for a very enjoyable walk
