Fabulous hotel within the university campus. Lovely friendly reception staff and easy to check in. The rooms are spacious and immaculately clean. Plenty of beverages provided and toiletries in the bathroom. Fabulously comfy bed and choice of pillows. Great stay

The lighting in the room not great - green light in the corner too bright. Breakfast mot starting until 8am. Should start at 7.30 to allow people who leave early have breakfast. No One available to provide things like toothpaste etc

I booked a four‑night stay at Sunley Hotel Northampton based on the reviews, but my experience was extremely disappointing and raised serious concerns about guest safety and staff professionalism. On the morning after my first night, another guest was given access to my room and attempted to enter. The only thing that stopped them was the security chain. This was a serious breach of privacy and safety. When the receptionist came to my door afterwards, he offered no apology and instead questioned how long I was staying, as if I had done something wrong. Later that morning, I approached reception to address the issue properly. Again, no apology, just a brief acknowledgment that it was an error on their part. That same night, when I returned to the hotel around 11:15–11:30pm, I discovered that my room key had been deactivated and I was locked out. I had to call the out‑of‑hours number and wait for a security guard to let me back in. This was extremely inconvenient and unacceptable after a long day at work. The next morning, the receptionist told me I would be refunded due to the issues I experienced. As of now, no refund has been issued.

The hotel was clean, staff were friendly and helpful. The car park is a short 2 minute walk away. My only complaint is that the bed wasn’t especially comfortable - the mattress was quite hard and lumpy.
