Friendly, efficient staff. Clean room. Ideal location from which to walk to bars, restaurants, stores, tourisy attractions, etc. The open bar was a tremendous bonus!

From when I stayed 5 years ago, I was sad to see what it is at now. I came back to the island because how much I loved it and this hotel and staff. It's so far from what it was.

There is no hot water. Don’t let other reviews fool you. Those were written by management. There is no hot water and the will tell you they’re working on it and they aren’t. Expect only cold showers. I booked an interior queen and we were “upgraded” for free to a balcony. But there is no balcony. Just railing. And it was on the second floor right above one of the noisiest streets in old San Juan. When I asked to be placed in the original room I booked I was told no. Also, you require a code to get in which I was told would be texted to me. It wasn’t even after asking for it multiple times. And there are many times when nobody is at the front desk. In short we were put in a room where we couldn’t sleep or shower and the staff didn’t give a damn. DO NOT STAY HERE DESPITE THE PRICE. There is no restaurant on premises. There is no elevator. I’m still not sure what I paid for as it literally had nothing that I need in a hotel.

The staff gets a 1000/10, beyond amazing. The shower in my room (207) was extremely tiny maybe 2x2 pillar in the shower made it a tight squeeze. The room I was assigned didn’t have any windows and was right by the stairs so no matter how quiet guests are you can hear everything, which I understand being a historic building. The ac was a little noisy and leaky overnight. The kindness of the staff and free drinks offer was the best part. The rooftop views were AMAZING but the rooftop definitely could use some much needed TLC. It looks like it got roughed up by the last hurricane and hasn’t been brought back up to its glory as it was in the pictures. The location of the hotel was phenomenal, right in the middle of San Juan and plenty of things to do in walking distance.
