Overall a pleasant stay at the Malborough. Some touching up of the decor would be advised . Traffic noise is not so good if you want to sleep with window open given there is no air con and only a fan.

We stayed one night. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was basic but reasonably priced and was fine for our needs. Our only issue was the noise - our room was on the ground floor near the entrance door and reception. We could hear the door going and people talking, often quite loudly. We mentioned to Reception and suggested maybe a notice to ask people to be quiet when coming in and leaving.

Hotel ideal gelegen für kurze Aufenthalte bei An/Abreise mit Bahn. Ebenso ideal gelegen für Besuche von Fussballspielen (ca. 7 Gehminuten vom Stadion entfernt). Basic-Einzelzimmer war sehr einfach ausgerüstet, WC wie beschrieben auf dem Flur. Was in der Beschreibung hier auf hotels.com nicht stimmte ist der Hinweis dass ein Waschbecken im Zimmer vorhanden sei - Waschbecken gabs einzig n der Gemeinschafts-Toilette. Frühstück ist eher klein, Instant-Kaffee, O-Saft aus der Tüte, Toast, Marmelade, etwas Wurst und Käse etc. Für den verlangten Preis aber absolut ok. Preis/Leistung kombiniert mit der Lage sind tiptop.

For the price, I don't think can be beaten. Away from the centre of town, but usefully close to the railway station. Recommended.

Clean and safe, extremely friendly and helpful staff. Very convenient for the station, the river walk, and the centre. Many pubs, restaurants, and cafes in walking distance. However amenities were a little lacking, even for the price. I stayed for two nights, first in a 3-person family room and then in a single with shared bathroom. The WiFi was patchy in the first room and didn’t always reach my room, and there was no bedside lamp or way of switching off the main light from the bed in the second, so it was very inconvenient to read in bed. The toilet was very close to my room and free whenever I needed to use it but there was no hook or shelf for my towel and toiletries (no sink in my room) and no hand towel. The shower was just a closet in the corridor with a shower inside, just one hook on the door and no dry place to change or store clothes, so presumably if I’d had a shower I would have had to go to and from my room in a towel. For this reason I didn’t use the shower. There was also no shelf in the shower for toiletries, just a small holder for shampoo or something. I think it was probably designed by a man who uses all-in-one shower gel/shampoo, lol. I’d stay again because the price is good but probably not for more than a night in the shared bathroom single room because of the shower situation. I’d suggest to the hotel that they could make a few small changes (hooks and a shelf in the shared toilet, bedside reading lights, another extension for the WiFi)
