Woken up at 7pm by workman ‘sanding’ in the room next door. Outside of the Royal is very shabby due to work being carried out

Hotel was having work carried out. Room had recently been refurbished so okay. Breakfast was really good. No restaurant available but plenty around. Great location. Parking limited.

The hotel was in the middle of a refurb hence some of the lower stars. The location is fantastic. Opposite the beach and a few mins walk from Spanish City. The staff were all lovely, friendly and helpful. I booked a single room which was very spacious. The bathroom was bright and new. Unfortunately the bed was very lumpy and uncomfortable and the room a bit dated bit I'm assuming that will be sorted when the refurb is finished. Breakfast was very good but served 6 till 9 which, when you're on holiday, is a tad early. I only went down twice. I hope to go back once the refurb is finished, providing they don't hike the prices top much.

There are major refurbishments going on so the front of the hotel is covered in scaffolding. My room was clean and comfortable if a little tired and the hotel is in a good location for the seafront. Free overnight parking nearby at Spanish city. It was very good value for August and even included breakfast which I couldn’t avail of as I was up and out early.
