Friendly staff. Room was basic but kept clean

We found the staff very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was wonderful but we were very disappointed to get into the shower and it was cold, the room felt cold too when we went to bed. The bed was very comfortable, the room shaked in the night when the big Lorrie’s went past too.

Just as we arrived at reception the heavens opened and we had a hailstorm. The young lady at reception made us a coffee while we waited for the storm to pass before she took us across the road to the annex. We were travelling by E-bikes and as their garage was out of action, she helped us park the bikes in the kitchen overnight, very useful. The setting of the main building is beautiful, right next to the river and next to the bridge. The cafe in the main building was excellent, this is where we had our breakfast. We stayed here many years ago before it was extended, it really looks a superb place. Next time we will stay in the main building and hopefully for more than one night. We had a lovely evening meal in tge pub next door.

Great place to stay for Forest Live. Hotel is lovely, warm and welcoming. It was a warm day so quite hot inside but we spent time outside in the huge gardens, the bar was open and we sat next to the river. Breakfast was superb, fresh fruit and proper butchers sausages! Would definitely stay again.
